Their projects in Sumatra operate through the Orangutan Information Centre (SOS-OIC). They founded this organization in 2001 in collaboration with a group of dedicated Indonesian conservationists to raise awareness of environmental and orangutan conservation issues amongst local communities living in North Sumatra and Aceh.

World Land Trust – supporting the Orangutan & others

The World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation organisation that takes direct action to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats. How? By providing funds for partner organisations, so that they can purchase land and establish permanent wildlife reserves.

Over 375,000 acres of wildlife habitats have been saved thanks to individual and corporate supporters of the World Land Trust, including tropical and sub-tropical forests, coastal steppe and wetlands.

Orangutan Appeal UK – www.orangutan-appeal.org.uk  They support rehabilitation at Sepilok – I have adopted an orangutan called Ceria with them and they send a newsletter, photo and drinks mat and keep you updated. They also raise money on behalf of the Sabah Wildlife Deparment for Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, but they also support other projects in Borneo which try to improve the welfare of Orangutans, including work with COP, the Centre for Orangutan Protection.
