 Railway lamb at Rajpoot Indian I have been here twice now. The first time: The food was really nice, but too salty and that was the only issue really. It is a nice venue with different ambience and surroundings depending on where you sit. A far more Indian menu than most with the traditional ‘Indian’ dishes one would expect in a general Indian. We had the ‘Railway lamb’ which was hearty and generous with lovely spices, potatoes and spinach. Also the peri peri chicken was spicy and fairy hot and tangy. The aloo gobi (potatoes and cauliflower) were not the best we have had but fresh and tasty.  Masa indian restaurant exterior We have now been to the Masa restaurant 3 times. The first time, over a year ago, we were not impressed, but we did return to give it another try, and it was lovely.
The Masa Indian Restaurant is called fine Indian Dining, and it is. The menu has all the favourites, but a wonderful range of North and South Indian delights that are not offered elsewhere. The ingredients are fresh and there is something to suit all tastes, with a very nice choice of fish dishes as well as vegetarian, chicken, lamb and seafood.
The staff are professional, polite and friendly, and the restaurant is contemporary in design, with comfy seating and plenty of room between tables.

 Indian Summer dansak and Peshwari Naan Well, back in February I was saying that the Viceroy in Hadleigh, Essex, was my favourite Indian restaurant, but the Viceroy has now become my 2nd favourite, as the ‘Indian Summer’ appeared along the A13 in Westcliff-on-Sea. I can now say that the ‘Indian summer’ is the best restaurant in Southend, and possibly Essex, as I have not had better anywhere else!
This restaurant is consistent and we have visited at least 15 times now so we have plenty of experience to go on!
Indian Summer does not offer buffets and special cheap deals, and we are glad they don’t, as they concentrate on good quality food instead. What they do offer is fantastic value for very good food.  Ruchi Indian Restaurant, Chicken tikka dansak and accompaniments The Ruchi Indian restaurant was one of my favourites in Southend on Sea, and I stopped going as I had one disappointing meal. However, we went back in February 2009 and it was as lovely as it ever was. The staff are very nice and the food was great. Pictured here is the chicken tikka dansak (just the right amount of sweet, sour and heat), Bombay potatoes, garlic naan, cucumber raitha and a lamb Rogan Josh. Delightful!
It is comfortable and modern with bench seating and normal seating. Everything is clean and fresh.

 chicken chat mumbai westcliff on sea essex The Mumbai was one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Westcliff/Southend on sea and we frequented it. We had one meal that was not the same, due to the chef being different, and have not been back there since, but we are easily put off! Well, we all have our favourite Indian restaurant and the Viceroy in Hadleigh, Essex is mine. Cosy booths, consistently friendly and attentive service, and fabulous food. Some of the menu highlights are:
