Last week saw the charity EWAG (Essex Women’s Advisory Group) in the news, as they are campaigning to clean up the image of the Essex girl.
I am currenty researching their work and will continue this post once I have found out more, but I am not sure this is a necessary cause, even though I stand up for the Essex girl, as you avid readers know……
Enjoy this photo gallery following of Olly Murs, which includes exclusive phots from the family collection, plus lots of pictures taken at the Colchester Homecoming gig on the 9th December 2009 with Simon Cowell and Olly’s family: Continue reading Photo Gallery of X Factor Olly Murs
Today is World Mental Health Day 2009 and I am really pleased to see the efforts of people this year. I popped into the Chelmer Village shppping centre in Chelmsford today and found an unused shop being used to promote World Mental Health day – good on them!
I am adding a new section to the website called ‘Essex Women’ where I will invite stories and articles from women who have something to say! My aim is to show the World that there is more to Essex and Essex people than the ‘stereotype’ that has been publicised. Please write in about yourself or someone you know, with a photo.
There is also a section on ‘Essex Women in Business’ where you can write an introduction about yourself and your Essex based Business. This is a free service as it is a new section, so hurry to take up the offer and showcase yourself and your business to over 14,000 visitors!
I will also be advertising women’s network meetings held in Essex or neighbouring areas. If you manage a network, go Continue reading Essex women and Essex businesses – Talk to me!
I am currently looking at the structure of the website and have noticed that now there is so much on it, it is not as easy to navigate as it could be. To make it easier for now, whilst this is in progress, please be aware that the drop down lists at the top of the website contain all the main static informatiion and the category posts on the left hand side are different – they contain all the up to date news, information and campaign updates, in date order.
Shortly, there will be a search box so you can search a keyword too, so look out for that.
Thanks to all of you who read my site – I hope you enjoy it!

First swine flu death of healthy man in Basildon, Essex
On Saturday, we saw the news in the Daily Mail that the first healthy person has died of Swine Flu. Since it hasn’t been high in the media lately, it is easy to forget about this awful virus. I also found it a little disturbing that he came from Essex and he died in Basildon Hospital, which is only 5 miles from where I live. I have heard so many people coughing and sneezing lately, that it is a little worrying, since it is the Summer, and there are not usually so many of these Continue reading First Swine Flu death of healthy man in Basildon, Essex

On Bank Holiday Monday the 25th May 2009, I had my first Orangutan Campaign in the local newspaper (Echo).
I decided to speak out about my bankruptcy 4 years ago, the spiral into depression that that situation led to, and how helping the Orangutans has given me a new lease of life and lifted my spirits, as it is a time of depression within this credit crunch, and many people are feeling the pinch. I feel that this story could give people some hope and Continue reading My Orangutans campaign – Echo newspaper May 2009
